Abstract

This review of the book by Ruiz and Vercelli addresses the importance of reflective documentation in the pedagogical practice of early childhood education teachers working with children aged 0 to 3 years. The work, structured in five chapters, offers a critical analysis of how this type of documentation can enhance educational practices by enabling educators to connect their emotions with children's learning experiences, thus promoting a more humane education. The authors present a historical overview and discuss various educational approaches over the years, contextualizing their reflections within the municipality of São Bernardo do Campo. Grounded in real-life experiences, the study includes narratives and arguments from participating teachers, highlighting that reflective practice is essential for the advancement of early childhood pedagogy and for the construction of collective knowledge. The review concludes that this book is an essential read for educators, coordinators, and pedagogy students, offering guidelines for ongoing professional development in early childhood education.
