Abstract

Produced for the 50th anniversary of the Unimep Postgraduate Program in Education, celebrated in 2022, this article proposes to highlight the contributions of the GEP, Study and Research Group “Critical Theory and Education”, created at UFSCar, in 1991, and which also started to work at Unimep, highlighting: I – Research projects linked to the critical theory of Society; II – The scientific congresses held in Piracicaba under the orientation of critical theory; III – Critical theory in PPGE-Unimep dissertations and theses and other scientific productions. The article recalls the fouding activities of the Research Group, in São Carlos, when the sought to undertake readings and projects on the historical-philosophical importance of the Institute for Social Research, founded in 1923 in Frankfurt, and its main thinkers, notably Theodor W. Adorno, Max Horkheimer, Walter Benjamin and Hebert Marcuse, with the perspective of appropriating and updating its theoretical and methodological contributions, in order to reveal its training potential. The article mentions the expansion of the Research Group in other headquarters, with emphasis on Piracicaba, bringing the contemporary theoretical-critical thinking on themes of transversality of education with other áreas of knowledge, notably philosophy, aesthetics, technology, cultural policy, communication and ethics, in its inexhaustible overlaps in theses, articles and published books, congresses, reading meetings, in the midst of cultural meetings and a lot of dialogue. It highlights that the Freirian sense of education being contained in affection permeates experiences, the people, the places, of these 25 years of Critical Theory at PPGE/Unimep.

Belarmino Cesar Guimarães da Costa, Universidade Metodista de Piracicaba (UNIMEP)

PhD in Education - Unicamp (1999) in the area of Philosophy and History of Education; Master's Degree in Education - UFSCar (1993) in the area of Fundamentals of Education; Journalist - Unimep (1983). Professor of the Graduate Program in Education (line: History and Philosophy of Education) and Journalism Courses; Cinema and Audiovisual and Radio/TV/Internet of UNIMEP/Piracicaba. Topics of interest, research and teaching performance: experience/training; cultural industry and digital culture; communication theory; education and technological mediation; new technologies and aesthetics; language, education and digital culture; media and cultural background; philosophy of education; critical theory and the culture industry; aesthetics and journalism; iconographic analysis; research methodology and guidance of CI/CT. Experience in Management in Higher Education (UNIMEP): Director of the Faculty of Communication and Informatics (2003 to 2018); coordinator of the Journalism Course (1994 to 2002). Member of the UNESCO/Methodist Chair in Communication for Regional Development; Evaluation member of Signals/MEC; Coordinator of GP INTERCOM Communication and Education (2006 to 2009). Member of the Lattes Cnpq Research Groups: Critical Theory and Education (Unimep/UFSCar/UNESP-Araraquara; Communication in the Digital Age: Culture, Aesthetics and Language (Unimep). Participation in evaluation boards of several public and private universities.

Bruno Pucci, Universidade Federal de São Carlos - UFSCar

Possui graduação em Teologia pela Pontifícia Universidade de San Tomás de Aquino (1966), Roma, graduação em Filosofia pela Organização Mogiana de Ensino e Cultura (1970), graduação em Letras Português Literatura pela Universidade Metodista de Piracicaba (1974), mestrado em Educação pela Universidade Metodista de Piracicaba (1976) e doutorado em Educação: História, Política, Sociedade pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (1982). Professor Titular pela UFSCar, 1992. Aposentado na Universidade Federal de São Carlos (1996), é, atualmente professor titular da Universidade Metodista de Piracicaba. Tem experiência na área de Educação, com ênfase em Filosofia da Educação, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: teoria crítica e educação, estética e educação, novas tecnologias e educação, filosofia da educação e educação.
