This review provides a descriptive and critical analysis of the book “Looking Carefully: How to Encourage Students to Learn Through Observation”, by Shari Tishman, a work that invites educators to rediscover the depth of the act of observing. Tishman shows that careful observation is a process that involves intense cognitive activities that stimulate critical thinking and creativity and are fundamental not only for academic learning, but for the formation of attentive and empathetic human beings. She also proposes concrete strategies for developing this practice in the classroom, which she considers essential for meaningful learning.
