The Sharing Game: choice and decision making in children and teenagers

The Sharing Game has been used to analyze the effects of variables that influence resource allocation, such as gender, age of the distributor, magnitude of the reinforcer and temporal restriction. This study sought to evaluate whether the choices made in the Sharing Game by children and adolescents were affected by the variables gender, age of the distributor, amount of money and time restriction. Two experiments were carried out involving repeated attempts where participants distributed resources between themselves and a passive participant, being able to choose in an optimized, competitive, egalitarian or altruistic way. One of the experiments used temporal restrictions during the procedure. In the results obtained, there was a predominance of optimized choices in both conditions.
