Abstract

 

The scope of this paper is to conceptualize and describe, in a descriptive-analytical study, one of the most important curricular activities of Unimep Postgraduate Program in Education, called the Study and Research Center, as well as to evaluate its importance for the Program achieving its essential objectives over the 27 years of existence of the Study and Research Centers. For this purpose, this text begins with a set of questions that can be represented by the following: 1) At which point in the history of the PPGE-Unimep were the Study and Research Centers set up?  2) What was its purpose and how did it fit into the Program Curriculum (Master’s and Doctorate)? 3) What was its relationship with the previous areas of concentration and with the actions needed to implement the Program’s two preferred Thematic Areas adopted since the Doctorate was established (1992)? The answers to these and other questions were based on information and data contained in the documents of the Program’s Collegiate, in the orders and/or resolutions in the annual, biannual, triennial, and quadrennial reports of the Capes Collection, as well as in the reports of Visiting Commissions sent by Capes, and in the decisions of this regulatory and control agency on the Program’s performance.

Valdemar Sguissardi, Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCar)

Licenciado em Filosofia pela Universidade Regional do Noroeste do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul (1966), mestrado em Science de lÉducation - Université de Paris X, Nanterre (1972) e doutorado em Sciences de lÉducation - Université de Paris X, Nanterre (1976). Professor Titular aposentado da Universidade Federal de São Carlos (1992) e professor aposentado da Universidade Metodista de Piracicaba (2010). Tem experiência na área de Educação, com ênfase em Fundamentos da Educação, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: educação superior, política de educação superior, reforma da educação superior, público e privado na educação superior.
